Dear Jefferson Families,

And that’s a wrap - another great year in the books! Thank you for all of your support throughout the year; we very much appreciate your dedication and partnership. It’s been wonderful, and I know I speak for the whole Jefferson team when I say that we are incredibly proud of each student’s accomplishments this year.

I hope you enjoy your summer and get to relax and spend time with family and friends. Please encourage your child to continue learning through daily reading, and if you haven’t already, check out the Elmhurst Public Library summer reading program.

We look forward to welcoming you back in August, and for our Tigers heading to middle school, we wish you all the best! We hope you’ll come back and visit next year.

And a special thanks and shout-out to Ms. Grote. She is going to be missed, and we wish her all the best with her retirement!

With gratitude,

Mrs. Sweeney & The Jefferson Team

Mark Your Calendars!

Our Supply Drop Off and Teacher Meet and Greet, followed by a PTA-sponsored Ice Cream Social, will be held on Tuesday, August 13th from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 14th.  You can see the calendar here.

Looking Ahead to the 2024-2025 School Year

Please check your email in early August for information about starting the school year. You will be able to find out your child’s teacher for next year in August through PowerSchool. In the past, tentative teacher assignments have appeared early in Seesaw and other applications used by the school.  These assignments are not final and should not be shared with students, as they may change before the official lists are released in PowerSchool. Please reach out with any questions.

A Note from Ms. Serrata

It is with a bittersweet feeling that I share with you a letter from Ms. Serrata, our art teacher. She has taken a role in another school district for next year. She has been a huge part of our community, and we will miss her, but we wish her the best with her next adventure.

Dear Jefferson Families,

I am writing to share that I have accepted a job in a different school district for the upcoming school year. To continue my journey as an educator I have decided to take a middle school art position. It has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of D205, and this new position is an opportunity to  further my own personal education and continue my development as a teacher.

I have truly enjoyed being a part of the Jefferson community for the past seven years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to work with the PTA, had the joy of knowing so many Elmhurst families, worked with a wonderful group of amazing staff, and watched every student blossom into a creative artist!

I will miss everyone at Jefferson, but I will carry with me the many special memories we have made together. Thank you for providing such a warm and welcoming community to be a part of and for sharing all of your artwork and creative ideas with me over the years! Jefferson is truly a wonderful place to be!

Have a wonderful summer, Jefferson families!

Sincerely,

Liz Serrata
