Join us for Family Fitness Night! Last year's event was hosted at Windy City Ninjas in Elmhurst. Whether it is your first time trying your ninja skills, or you have already come to know the challenge and fun of the ninja gym, this is the time to try out and feed your inner ninja warrior! We will have healthy snacks, activities for the kids and a few raffle prizes to give away! For more information, please contact Renee Epstein.
Join us for a fun evening filled with creative, hands-on math activities that will get your kids to think about and make sense of numbers!
There will be 8 go-at-your-own-pace stations to explore with three activity levels at each station, as well as an interactive look at the district’s new math series, Eureka. We’ll be playing games, making projects, and discovering how much fun math can be, all while reinforcing classroom learning. So bring the whole family and join your friends for some fun and engaging, hands-on math!
In order for the evening to run smoothly, we need volunteers to facilitate the various stations. No math background or education experience is necessary!!!
Volunteers will be asked to:
watch a short video prior to the event
arrive early to review station materials
assist families as they rotate through their station
stay 10 minutes past the event to organize their materials
And that’s it! Please consider donating your time to make this event a huge success! If you are interested in volunteering or if you have any questions, please contact Cathy Dykes.
The Giving Tree is a wonderful Jefferson tradition that gives students a chance to help families in need during the holidays. Each student is encouraged to donate a gift card to help make the holidays special for each family.
After all the children have placed their donation, there is a special program given by all grades. This year's Giving Tree program will be in December 2020. For more information, please contact Megan Corrigan.
The Halloween Parade, which is on October 31st, is a wonderful Jefferson tradition! Students should wear their costumes to school and bring a change of clothes with them. Please do not send your child to school with scary masks, plastic weapons or anything that would be inappropriate for elementary students. The students will be getting changed immediately following the parade, so please do not have them come in with sprayed hair or make-up that would be difficult to take off. The parade begins promptly at 8:30am and students will come out Door 1 and proceed down Poplar and turn right on Niagara and then right onto Linden Ave and return into school through Door 2. Please do not have dogs on the route, as we want to ensure all students feel safe.
Parents are invited to stay around to see our wonderful Jefferson teachers do a Halloween performance.
Pop-Up Pumpkin Cafe/Coffee for Parents will be outside Jefferson the morning of October 31. Elijah's coffee will be served to keep you toasty warm while watching the Halloween parade, compliments of the PTA Social Committee.
Every year, we kick off the start of school with our 'meet the teacher' event, our Ice Cream Social! Come to Jefferson to meet your teacher, see your child's class and drop off school supplies. Then join us on the front lawn for ice cream and reconnecting with our Jefferson families after our fun filled summers! For more information, please contact Cathy Dykes and Pamela Fergueson.

We would love your help! If you would like to volunteer for an upcoming event or have an idea, please
Thanksgiving Feast Meal Pick-up Information - We had over 200 students sign up for a Thanksgiving Feast meal! In order to efficiently distribute these meals, on Wednesday, November 18, please put your last name and number of meals on a piece of paper and tape it to your passenger side windshield. When you get to the parking lot at Jefferson School, drive through in the same way as school supply pick-up. When you arrive at the pick-up location, please pop your trunk, and a volunteer will get your meals and put them in your trunk. Then please close your trunk and exit the parking lot. The pick up times are as follows:
Thanksgiving Feast FUN - Even though we can't be at the Thanksgiving Feast together in person, the PTA is excited to offer this virtual Feast! In order to feel the sense of community that normally comes with the Thanksgiving Feast, we'd love for each student to share what they are grateful for this Thanksgiving on FlipGrid ( https://flipgrid.com/
And for those of you who miss coloring the paper tablecloths before the Feast, we've made a Thanksgiving Feast placemat to print at home and color before you eat. (Click here to print it out!) Have fun at your Thanksgiving table, Jefferson Tigers!
The PTA Social Committee invites you to enjoy a magical, family night at the theater. Join us at The Drury Lane Theatre in January 2020! It is sure to be a memorable event!
Discounted tickets for Jefferson families & friends have been arranged by the PTA Social Committee. Questions? Contact Kathy Fromm.
