Hello Jefferson Families!
It’s been another great week of learning here at Jefferson! I’ve seen a lot of students working on both reading and writing of informational texts. It has been fun seeing all of the different topics that the students have been exploring throughout the school. In addition to choice in topic, students are also demonstrating their knowledge in a variety of ways including creating websites, Google Slides, magazines, and essays.
I want to encourage everyone in the Jefferson community to watch the board meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. More information regarding the shift to more students learning in person will be shared including logistics and safety protocols. Families have the option to switch from remote to in-person and vice versa until Wednesday, February 10th. Jefferson families can do so by filling out this form. Please see below for more details regarding the board meeting.

PTA Meeting, Wednesday, February 10th at 7:30 p.m. (Correction)
The 2nd Grade Team will be joining the PTA meeting on Wednesday to share about learning in second grade. This is a correction from previous communication which stated that 1st grade teachers would be attending the meeting. The first grade team will be joining in March.
Active Shooter Drill This Week
Students will be participating in a required Active Shooter Drill on Tuesday (A students) and Thursday (B students) of this week. They will not be actually moving to a protected space in the classroom because that would break our social distancing protocols for safety. Instead, their teacher will explain where students would move to if a real emergency happened. Teachers will explain to students that this is what we would do if there was a person of concern in the building. We will not be discussing any of the school shootings that have occurred in the United States. Officer Jorgensen will be present to advise us.
Quarantine Practice Update
Jen Conwell and the D205 nursing team have provided an update on our quarantine practice after close contact. Here is a link to the document.
Attached is a Zoom link for a Focus Group on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m. with our school's parents regarding the Superintendent search. The session will be facilitated by consultants from School Exec Connect, Dr. Linda Yonke and Dr. Tim Shimp. The consultants are seeking input for the creation of a New Superintendent Profile for the Board. This meeting is specifically for parents from our school and Bryan Middle School.
The link takes you to a registration page for this Focus Group session; after filling out the short form you will be given a Zoom link to the meeting.
The session will last approximately one hour, and will ask you to identify strengths and challenges facing the District, the priorities for the new Superintendent, and the specific qualities/traits/skills/
Thanks for participating in this important opportunity to share your thoughts about the Superintendent search.
