Weekly Weber Update

May 14, 2018

Dear Jefferson Families,

It is amazing to me that we are almost through with another year! The students have grown so much this year, and I am always so proud of all of the wonderful things that we have accomplished in such a short period of time.

Congratulations to our 5th grade students! They completed the DARE program, sponsored by the Elmhurst Police Department, and had their graduation today.

Thank you to Mrs. Dykes and all of the parent and teacher volunteers who made our Family Math Night such a success! The families had a wonderful time with all of the activities, we had over 100 students participate!

Just a couple reminders as the weather gets warmer. Please make sure that you are not bringing dogs onto school property. This is a district policy that helps to ensure the safety of all students. If you are a kindergarten family, please know that the playground is not accessible during school hours. We have several classes that come outside for lunch as well as TDPE during the school day. We appreciate your support in this area.

District 205 is working to develop the next phase of its comprehensive facilities study and is creating a Master Facility Plan that will serve our community for many years to come. Based on feedback from the Community Advisory team and recent listening sessions, the D205 administration created a presentation that was shared with the Board of Education on May 8 and will be presented at the Future Focused meetings on the following dates at these locations: Monday, May 14, from 7 to 9 PM at Churchville Middle School; Wednesday, May 23, from 7 to 9 PM at Bryan MS and Wednesday, May 30, from 7 to 9 PM at Sandburg MS.Each presentation will be the same in content; please mark your calendar for the date that best suits you and plan to join the conversation. All are welcome!

We have many staff members that will be moving on to different endeavors for next year. As you know Mrs. Kirchoff will be retiring and Mrs. Weidner will be moving on as well. There are a few more staff members that will not be returning to Jefferson for various reasons next year. I wanted you to know, so that you and your children would have a chance to say good-bye and thank these amazing teachers that have been such an asset to our Jefferson family. The following staff will not be returning to Jefferson next year: Mr. Grosso, Mr. Gackowski, Mrs. Molidor, Mrs. Patel, Mrs. Franks, and Mrs. Spinelle. Our lunchroom supervisor, Mrs. Georgette Richter will also be retiring from her role in the lunchroom.

Summer Send Off/Last Day of School
On our last day of school, we like to wish our 5th grade students good luck as they move on to new endeavors as well as send off our students on a happy note for summer. At 11:05 on Friday, May 25, we will have students in grades 1 through 5 exit the building through Door 3. Each grade level, beginning with first grade, will exit Door 3 and line up along the blacktop, so that each grade level will pass the previous grade level allowing for the fifth grade students to walk passed all of their previous teachers, younger students, and parents. At 11:15, students will be officially dismissed for the summer.
