Dear Jefferson Families,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Thank you to Mrs. Bjorlin for organizing a Jefferson Family Event at the Chicago Wolves game last night. It was fun to see so many families. I know my family enjoyed it as well. I also look forward to seeing everyone in their 80’s outfits on Friday! We will have an 80’s spirit day on Friday and then the PTA dance in the evening. We have some fantastic events coming up in the next few weeks, so please check our website.

The weather has not been cooperating, but Running Club is up and running! We have a great need for volunteers, so if you have some time, please come out to supervise and cheer on our runners. Please sign up to volunteer here, just fill your name in on the days and times you can come.

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team, Anonymous Gold! They will be participating in a district wide competition tomorrow, April 17, at the Elmhurst library after school. Come cheer them on! Good luck to Claire Goodman, Joe Messersmith, Mimi Baxa, Brooklyn Stilson, Sarah Bohlin and Mikey Marcuccelli. Thank you to the sponsors Mrs. Georgalas and Mr. Grosso for all of their hard work in making the Battle of the Books a success this year.

On April 26th, Jefferson will host our annual Spring Celebration of Learning. This will be a time where you can come and see all of the wonderful learning your child has done throughout the school year. The fourth grade will have their State Fair exhibit as well as their musical performance beginning at 5:30pm in the gym. Grades K-5 will have their browsing time from 6:00-7:30pm. I look forward to seeing you next Thursday!

At the May 3rd PTA meeting, I will be presenting information in regards to Standards Based Reporting. This reporting was piloted at both Field and Hawthorne this year and all elementary buildings will be using this form of reporting next year. It will be an informational presentation discussing the shifts in both our reporting tool as well as the teaching and learning of students. Please come and learn about this wonderful tool and what information it will give you in regards to your child’s learning.

District 205 is hard at work developing the next phase of its comprehensive facilities study and is working to create a Master Facility Plan that will well serve our community for many years to come. There will be a presentation by architects Wight & Company at the April 24 Board meeting which will incorporate the boundary report (presented on April 10) overlaid with findings from Focus 205.

The District will work with the Community Advisory Team (CAT) to create a presentation that will be shared with the public on the following dates and locations: Saturday, May 12, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, at York High School; Monday, May 14, from 7 to 9 PM at Churchville Middle School; Wednesday, May 23, from 7 to 9 PM at Bryan MS and Wednesday, May 30, from 7 to 9 PM at Sandburg MS.
