Dear Jefferson Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day Parade! We had one on the Northwest Side of Chicago, and the kids and I had a blast, it was beautiful weather. We have a student late arrival this Wednesday, March 14. Please remember the deadline for REACH appeals is Thursday, please see further information below.

Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is coming up soon! This year's event will be happening during your child's PE class during the week of March 19-23. In the weeks leading up to this awesome Heart Health event you're able to help your child fund-raise for the American Heart Association. Please follow this link, http://www2.heart.org/goto/jeffersonelmhurst  to get your child registered.

Remember Jump Rope for Heart is not just about who can raise the most money. We are focusing on spreading awareness of heart health, so help your child send those emails!! Be on the lookout for an informational handout to come home, giving you more information about the Scare Squad Monsters. Please direct any questions about Jump Rope for Heart to Mrs. Spinelle (aspinelle@elmhurst205.org).

SOLES for Kids
The York High School Key Club is again sponsoring a “Soles for Kids” shoe drive, and we are asking for your support and assistance with this endeavor. Through the generosity of District 205 families, they have successfully collected over 8,000 pairs of shoes over the past six years. The drive will start Monday, March 5 and conclude on Friday, May 11.

Soles for Kids is a charity organization that collects gently used shoes and sends them to needy children and adults in Africa as well as Indian Reservations in the United States. Many times families in these places need to pick between shoes and food, so we aim to provide the shoes for free.

For more information on the charity itself, such as where the shoes are going or how they are getting there, we’ve attached the link of the Soles for Kids website for your convenience. http://solesforkids.org/index.html

Join the Master Facility Plan Community Advisory Team!

Elmhurst District 205 is creating a Master Facility Plan (MFP) that will focus on educational needs for students, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), All Day Kindergarten, and Future Ready Learning. The plan will also address pressing maintenance/facility needs and safety priorities.
As part of the community engagement process, we are seeking volunteers for a Community Advisory Team (CAT) to help review the Master Facility Plan outreach efforts and materials.

This group will be asked to:

●Ensure that messages and materials related to the MFP are clear and easy-to-understand

●Help anticipate community questions and concerns

●Offer suggestions to make sure the district is using every opportunity to reach stakeholders

The District plans to offer many opportunities for parents, staff and the community to weigh in on the Master Facility Plan. The CAT is just one part of the engagement process, to help guide the District in communicating this work.

Want to apply?
The District is seeking 20+ members to serve. The CAT team will be a diverse representative group of parents, staff and community members. In the event the number of applicants exceeds the number of available slots, participants will be chosen via lottery. Priority will be given to applicants who represent more than one group and can attend the first meeting on Monday, March 19.Please fill out the Google form located at http://bit.ly/2FUbShu_CAT to apply.
