Weekly Weber Update

February 12, 2018

Dear Jefferson Families,
Snow, snow, everywhere! Last week was a very snowy week and I appreciate your patience and understanding in getting students safely into the building. We have late arrival on Wednesday, our staff will continue our professional learning on increasing rigor through literacy discussions with students, which aligns with our School Improvement Plan.

On February 23, the PTA will be hosting a Coffee with Mrs. Weber. This will be an opportunity for me to discuss our School Improvement Plan and share information with families about our district and school focus. Please join us after drop off for some coffee and socializing. The presentation will begin at 8:30am.

Please remember that if you are sharing Valentines this week, students are not to bring any candy or food items. Things like pencils, bookmarks, and stickers are great ideas!

RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS WEEK
We will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness week this week. The students will be participating in a variety of activities to share kindness. Thank you to Ms. Cusack for organizing the activities.

Day 1 (Monday 2/12): Mrs. Moore Kindness Day
Students can fill out a kindness card for another student (or a staff member) and deliver on their own.

Day 2 (Tuesday 2/13): Gratitude Hearts. Students will discuss what it means to be grateful. They will discuss very specific ways that they can show gratitude and kindness to others in the class.

Day 3 (Wednesday 2/14): Capture Kindness. Students can hand out pink PAWS slips to other students that they “catch being kind.”

Day 4 (Thursday 2/15): Smile File. Students will discuss a time when they felt sad or upset and how someone helped them feel better. Then students will give examples of what they could say to someone who they know is feeling sad.

Day 5 (Friday 2/16): Random Acts of Kindness Day! Kindness Pledge. Students will take the kindness pledge and earn a kindness sticker. Students are also encouraged to engage in Random Acts of kindness throughout the day.

Informational Meeting for Incoming 6th Grade Parents of students who receive special education services.
Parents of students receiving special education services are invited to attend one of two meetings to answer any questions you may have as your child moves to middle school. The purpose of this meeting is to provide parents details on how special education services are implemented in the middle school setting. Answers to commonly asked questions about a "day in the life of a middle school student" will also be discussed. One meeting has already passed, there is another opportunity to attend this meeting this evening.
Date: Monday, February 12th
