Weekly Weber Update - October 29

Brrrr!! What a change in the season! I hope you all stayed warm this weekend. I loved all of the spirit and participation during Red Ribbon Week! As I look at the calendar, we have so many wonderful things happening in the next few months. Gordon Korman, an amazing author, will be visiting Jefferson in November. Thank you to the PTA for organizing his visit, the students and staff are so excited. We have our Thanksgiving Feast on November 16th. For our new families, this is a wonderful Jefferson tradition where we all enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together as a Jefferson family, this wouldn’t happen if not for the PTA and the many volunteers we have, thank you!

Mrs. Wright, our library/media specialist, has been incorporating many wonderful STEM opportunities for our students the past few weeks. Thank you to the Foundation 205 for providing funds through the Foundation Grants in order for Mrs. Wright to purchase the supplies to help get our Makerspace moving! Please view some wonderful pictures of students coding in the library this week!

Parent Teacher Conferences
This year conference sign-up will be online. This is a two-part process that began last week. You should have received a secure email from D205 that contained a letter and link for you to register and have a parent single sign-on (SSO) to our PowerSchool system. This will allow you to then sign up for conferences beginning at 6:00am on November 7th. The window for conference sign-up will be until November 14th. Conferences this year will be 20-minutes and will be on Monday, November 20th from 4:30-8:00pm and on Tuesday, November 21st from 10:00am-6:00pm.

Halloween Parade
The Halloween Parade, which is on October 31st, is a wonderful Jefferson tradition! Students should wear their costumes to school and bring a change of clothes with them. Please do not send your child to school with scary masks, plastic weapons or anything that would be inappropriate for elementary students. The students will be getting changed immediately following the parade, so please do not have them come in sprayed hair or make-up that would be difficult to take off. The parade begins promptly at 8:30am and students will come out Door 1 and proceed down Poplar and turn right on Niagara and then right onto Linden Ave and return into school through Door 2. Please do not have dogs on the route as well, as we want to ensure all students feel safe. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!

Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be on November 9th. They will be taken first thing in the morning and will be completed by 9:30 or so. Students in the afternoon kindergarten class that need their pictures retaken should come to school in the morning for their retake. Picture proofs were sent home this week, so please check your child’s folder or backpack.
