Julie Lindsay Named November Star Educator

Congratulations to Julie Lindsay, Jefferson First Grade teacher recognized as Star Educator for November!

On December 14, Mrs. Lindsay was surprised to learn that a parent nominated her for the Star Educator Award from Kickoff for Kids.

The parent said:

Julie Lindsay is an exceptional teacher at Jefferson School! She is dedicated to helping students achieve their best while using different teaching techniques to meet individual needs of the children in her classroom. For the past few summers, Julie has gone overseas to teach in different countries. I can only assume she does this not only to challenge herself- but to also observe what is being taught in other countries and see how she can apply those teachings in her own classroom. In addition, when she went to India a few summers ago, she sent each one of her students a post card sharing her experiences with them What a great gesture! In addition, Julie is a great citizen of our community. Every year she collects new and used books for a school in need in the Chicago area. This is a great example of her dedication to children and her commitment to encourage the love of reading in our young children!

Karin Dochhoff presented the award from Kickoff for Kids. Kickoff for Kids (KoK) is an Elmhurst-based charity that raises funds for initiatives that support children in our community. This initiative seeks to recognize local educators whose hard work makes a difference in the lives of children.

This award was established to recognize the outstanding service of local public and private school elementary educators. Award recipients are nominated by community members, parents, students or peers and are selected based on performance, including the demonstration of exceptional commitment to children. Nominations are due by the 10th of each month.
