Giving Tree - The Giving Tree is a Jefferson Tradition. In the past we have adopted families through the UCCA and bought gifts off of their wish lists. Unfortunately, the UCCA ended their adopt a family program this year. To continue our Giving Tree tradition and to help those that are less fortunate, Jefferson will be collecting GIFT CARDS and giving them to Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Elmhurst, so that they can deliver them to less fortunate families in Elmhurst.

This is a voluntary propgram. No one is required to participate, but it is an amazing way for our children to help families that are truly in need. If you would like to participate please do the following: Purchase a GIFT CARD in any amount, from a local store (Target, Jewel, Marianos, Kohls, Shell Gas etc) and send to school on the morning of the Giving Tree Assembly, Thursday, December 14th. We will have a large wrapped present that the children will drop their gift cards in once they enter the gym for the performance. Thank you in advance for your support.

PTA Meeting - The next general meeting of the Jefferson PTA is January 11th at 7pm in the Jefferson MPR. We hope to see you there!

3rd Grade Junior Great Books - It's time to sign up for 3rd Grade Jr. Great Books. Our discussion groups will meet for 7 weekly sessions on Fridays during lunch from January 12-February 23.

For those of you who are not familiar with Jr. Great Books, it is a short story discussion group that offers a fun way for students to read and discuss age-appropriate literature through the Shared Inquiry method. This program strengthens retention, comprehension, and critical thinking skills, as well as, is a strong compliment to the Reading Street program taught in the classroom. For more information on Jr. Great Books and the Shared Inquiry method, please visit

The cost of participation is $22 for book/supplies.
If you already have the 3rd grade book, the cost is $3 for supplies. If your child would like to participate in Jr. Great Books, please return the sign up form found here by Wednesday, December 20. The books will be delivered to your student’s classroom as soon as we get them.

Jr. Great Books is sponsored by the Jefferson PTA and the REACH PTA. Please feel free to contact Stephanie DrolettGina Padgett, or Lesley Samuel with any questions or if financial assistance is needed. Thank you.

Spiritwear - In need of a last minute stocking stuffer or gift for your Jefferson Tiger? We have winter hats in hot pink, royal blue, heather grey and light pink in stock and ready to purchase. Watch for an order form to go home in backpacks this Friday or download one here! While supplies last so don't forgot to get your order in ASAP!

Amazon Smile - Coming Soon! Every time you shop Amazon, make sure you shop via AmazonSmile. The AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5% of ALL eligible purchase to a charity/school of your choice. You can still use Prime and any other Amazon functions you already use, just make sure you enter via AmazonSmile first. This is truly a NO BRAINER! Instead of typing in, type Select the Jefferson School PTA (make sure its listed in Elmhurst IL) as your charity of choice and donations will be sent automatically to the Jefferson PTA. Please start using this function on all Amazon purchases and make sure you choose Jefferson School PTA. Once we are up and running there will be an easy link to use on the PTA website. Thanks!

Candy Donation Thank You - Brownie Troop 50425 and all Jefferson Girl Scouts would like to thank all Jefferson families for the generous candy donations. They were able to make generous donations to benefit the following: Special Kids Day, the Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry and US Troops.

Christmas Light Recycling - York High School’s ECO Club is collecting broken or old Italian mini lights, traditional rope lights, and LED lights from any holiday, along with extension and appliance cords, as well as computer cables. All may be dropped off in bins located in the lobbies of the “A” and “C” buildings at York. The program runs now through the end of January. All proceeds will benefit SCARCE, Contact ECO Club sponsor Bob Blaus for more information at
