This weekend Northwestern (Mrs. Friedericks favorite BIG TEN team) and Eastern Illinois ( Mrs. Friedericks'  alma mater) are playing each other! We will be doing some fun football math today and next Monday to celebrate the winner. :)

Welcome to a new Month! We have been working hard on literacy, math and having fun too!

Week of 9/8

Kindergarten: Literacy -Letters P-N and Reviewing S-A-T-I

                     Math- Working on counting forward and backward from 10/ days of the week and seasons!

!st grade: Literacy- Reviewing sight words and beginning/ending/medial sounds! Introducing the first anthology story and                                                       working on 5 new vocabulary words.

                Math- Tally marks and ordinal number review

2nd grade: Literacy- "Nighttime" is coordinating story of the week with "Henry and Mudge" from Anthology. 

                   Vocabulary= nighttime, light, sleep, bright, rise, blink, shine

                   Math - Ordinal numbers, Tally Marks, even and odd







Week of 2/23-2/28

Working hard as usual this week!

Kindergarten: Beginning Trimester 3 with a BANG. Working on the BIG idea in our stories (main idea).  AMAZING words this week -Chameleon, pattern, hide, jungle, skin, and scampered.  In math we are practice counting my 2's and 10's.

1st grade: We are continuing will individual spelling lists and working on Touch Points in math :)

2nd grade #1: "I like where I am" and working on summarizing.

2nd grade #2: working on "The Mitten" and sequencing with summarizing.


President's Day

We have been learning about our 2 favorite Presidents this month!

Abraham Lincoln and George Washington both celebrate birthdays in February.

This week we celebrated the first day of Fall and Johnny Appleseed's birthday!

We read apple themed books, learned about fun fall activities and talked about Harvest time!

Red Ribbon Week

This week Jefferson is celebrating Red Ribbon Week! The student council has put together some school spirit days for all of Jefferson to show that we are DRUG FREE!

Thursday 10/25: Fun Sock Day

Friday 10/26: Orange and Black-out Drug Day (wear black and orange).

Buddy Walk Success!

The 2012 Buddy Walk held at Cantigny was a success, even if the weather did not cooperate. Our friend Tommy's team, the MODSquad raised 14,000 dollars! Way to go Tommy and everyone who contributed. We are so proud of you.

What's Happening in Room 103-B

We are working hard!

Our kindergarteners are doing so great with Jolly Phonics. Please review letter S, A, T, I, P, N. If you are looking for a fun and easy game to play, use these letters and see how many words you can make together.

In first grade we are working on word families -at and -ot. Also working with money (quarter, dime, nickel, penny). We are mathcing, sorting, and counting them. :)

In second grade we are working on writing about ourselves. We are also reading about City Mouse and Country Mouse.

It is almost time to come back to Jefferson!

Monday August 20th:

FIRST DAY! Students will be dismissed at 11:15am

If your student is going to Rec Station please make sure they bring a lunch.

Tuesday August 21st-Friday August 24th:

Bell rings to start our day at 8:15am and students will be dismissed at 3:00pm.

Please make sure to eat a good breakfast because there will be a lot to do and a lot to learn.

Valentine's Day Fun!

Our classroom was very busy yesterday celebrating the Valentine's Day holiday. We did Valentine's Day math, reading, and writing.

We practiced our "letter" writing and wrote "Dear Mom and Dad" on our special cards.
